The leaves are simple, smooth, rounded in shape. Sockets are compact, their width is from 18 to 25 centimeters.
History of the variety, by whom
Senpolis variety PT Angelica was bred by Tatyana Pugachova, a Russian breeder from St. Petersburg. The name of the variety comes from the female name Angelica. The bright pink color of lush flowers framed by smooth leaves gives the plant a romantic look.
Leaves of the usual size for the senpolia are smooth and even.
Additional decorativeness is given by double coloring.
The outer side of the leaf plate is smooth, dark green in color, a little shiny in appearance.
The highlight of this variety is the rich red color of the inside of the plate.
Attention! It is important for the plant to provide lighting no less than 12 hours a day; it requires artificial illumination. Without sufficient lighting, the leaves turn yellow, lose their attractive appearance.
Large flowers with double edges of the petals are collected in lush inflorescences.
On the edges of the corrugated border in contrasting shades. The size of the flowers is 5 - 7 centimeters. Flowering lasts from 3 to 4 weeks.
Flower decoration - a two-color border, consisting of a white edge and raspberry dusting inside.
Along the edge of the inflorescences a rare blue speck.
Features! In hot weather, the white border on the flowers is weak. In winter, at low temperatures, light fringing appears brightly.
Features and differences from other varieties
Violet PT Angelica is easy to care for, even for a beginner. The plant does not require the maintenance of a complex regime of temperature and humidity. An adult plant actively multiplies, from each flower there are a lot of “children”.
Features!Like any Saintpaulia variety with a dark green color, Angelica needs enhanced lighting.
Violets are delicate, photophilous plants. They grow best on a windowsill with bright, diffused light. It is important to avoid direct sunlight. This leads to burns on the leaves. It is best to place plants on the north or northeast side. This will provide abundant flowering in the summer.
Attention! If the plants are located on the south, southwest or east side, it is recommended to shade pots.
It is important to protect plants from drafts. From streams of cold air, the leaves lose their decorativeness, beige spots appear on them.
The soil mixture for senpolia is light and loose. It is designed to hold moisture. If it is prepared on its own, vermiculite and perlite are added for drainage. Or buy a ready-made mixture for violets. Plants prefer slightly acidic soil.
Important! The soil must be constantly moist and “fluffy”.
The plant grows well in plastic pots. The size of the container is recommended to be increased during transplants. The optimum diameter of the pot is from 9 to 10 centimeters.
Caution! It is not recommended to use pots with a diameter of more than 10 centimeters.
Like all varieties of violets with a dark green color of leaves, Angelica requires enhanced lighting.
Daylight hours should last 12 hours.
With insufficient lighting, cuttings and peduncles are pulled out.
Excess sunlight leads to lowering of the edges of the leaves.
The optimum temperature for PT Angelica is 19 - 22 C. Plants do not like heat, this leads to a change in the color of the flowers. It is undesirable that the night temperature drop below 19 C.
Water the plants with plenty of warm water. At low humidity, the leaves turn yellow and die. At the same time, stagnation of moisture in the soil should not be allowed. To ensure high humidity, next to put the tank with water.
Planting and reproduction
Violet Angelica successfully propagated in two main ways: seeds or cuttings. The process of propagation by seeds is more time consuming. It is most simple to propagate plants by cuttings. For this:
- Cut a stalk with a leaf from an adult plant;
- Root it in warm water;
- Transplant into a pot with soil for violets.
With proper care, young plants will quickly grow stronger.
Tanks with young plants are covered with glass. The greenhouse is regularly ventilated, condensate is removed. It is removed after the appearance of 2 - 3 true leaves.
Water 1 - 2 times a week. Violets fit the "lower" watering. Pots are placed in trays that fill 1/3 of the water. Water stagnation must not be allowed.
A transplant is needed once every 3 years. It is made by the method of “transshipment without damaging the roots. Charcoal drainage is poured into the bottom of the pot.
Fertilizer and fertilizing
Fertilize the violet during the flowering period. Young plants need complex mineral fertilizing. Nitrogen and phosphorus are especially important.
Diseases and Pests
Improper care leads to diseases such as yellow leaves. This is a consequence of too dry air or sunburn. Rotting of the roots leads to the development of Fusarium and gray rot. The main pests:
For treatment, drugs such as Fundazole, Agraventin or Fitoverm are used. They are sprayed with diseased plants.
